Living with Dementia
My experience working with people living with dementia and those coming to terms with their diagnosis has been both profound and humbling. Having spent over three years volunteering with organisations such as Cruse Bereavement Care, I have gained valuable insights into the emotional and psychological challenges faced by those navigating this difficult journey. As a qualified counsellor in Plymouth, I adopt an integrative and person-centred approach, ensuring that each client feels understood and valued. My goal is to create a safe space where you can share your concerns, explore your feelings, and find the support you need.
Coping with Dementia
Caring for someone with dementia can bring immense daily pressures. The emotional toll can be significant, and it's important to develop coping mechanisms that work for you. With my dementia counselling, I offer guidance on various strategies that can help alleviate stress and provide comfort in difficult times. Techniques such as mindfulness, setting realistic expectations, and engaging in self-care are essential. It's crucial to acknowledge that feelings of frustration, sadness, or even guilt are normal; you are not alone in this. Together, we can work through these challenges and develop a personalised plan to enhance your emotional well-being.
"In every Alzheimers story there is also a love story. Hold on to yours, for it can carry you and your loved one through the longest days and nights."

Personal Connection
I have had numerous experiences with people living with dementia, both professionally and personally. Having cared for my Mum during her battle with this illness, I understand the complex emotions and challenges that arise. This personal connection informs my counselling practice and allows me to empathise deeply with my clients. I named my business, Forget Me Not Counselling, in her memory, reflecting my commitment to providing compassionate dementia counselling to those affected by the condition. I believe that everyone deserves understanding and kindness as they navigate through this difficult journey.
